Camp Mighty Hands is hosted by the University of Utah Hand Division, bringing together children, parents, caregivers, medical professionals, and volunteers for a morning of connection, confidence-building, and pure fun.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

A MORNING PACKED WITH ADVENTURE

Activity stations open at 9 am and run through noon. Come and go as you like, though we'd love to have you for the whole thing.

  • Outdoor climbing wall: Scale new heights and celebrate every grip, every inch, every summit.
  • Dunk tank: Take your best shot. Cool off. Laugh a lot.
  • Petting zoo: Get up close with friendly animals for a gentle, joyful experience.
  • Arts & crafts: Creative stations where imagination leads the way.
  • Interactive games: Team-building and fun games for kids of all ages and abilities.
  • Splash pad: Wardle Park's brand-new splash pad — ready for a hot August morning.
  • Family meet & connect: Dedicated time to meet other families and connect with providers.
  • Refreshments: Cookies, crackers, fruit snacks, popsicles, and water provided.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Camp Mighty Hands is designed for children ages 4–18 with congenital or traumatic upper extremity conditions. Children under 4 are also welcome.

  • Children ages 4–18: With congenital upper extremity differences or traumatic upper extremity injuries. Children under 4 are welcome too.
  • Parents & guardians: We ask that a parent or adult guardian accompany their child throughout the camp. Activity stations are designed to be shared together.

A note on siblings

To ensure we can accommodate as many eligible children as possible, we ask that siblings not attend camp this year.

WHAT TO BRING

Come ready to move (and get a little wet)

There's a splash pad and a dunk tank, so dress for an active, possibly damp morning.

Who can attend Camp Mighty Hands?

Camp Mighty Hands is geared for children and youth ages 4-18 years old with congenital and traumatic hand conditions, however, children younger than 4 years old are welcome to attend too.

How much does Camp Mighty Hands cost?

There is no cost to participate. All costs are covered by Camp Mighty Hands.

How can I attend Camp Mighty Hands?

Your children can attend Camp Mighty Hands by registering and signing the consent form found at Camp Mighty Hands Registration and Consent Form.

Do parents attend Camp Mighty Hands with their child?

Yes! We ask that parents or an adult guardian accompany your child throughout the time they are at the camp. The hope is that parents and children visit activity stations together so you can get to know other children with congenital and traumatic hand injuries and their parents.  

Can siblings attend Camp Mighty Hands?

In order to accommodate as many children with congenital and traumatic hand conditions as possible in the camp activity stations we ask that siblings not come to the camp.

What is the purpose of Camp Mighty Hands?

The purpose is to create a community for children with congenital and traumatic hand conditions and their parents to share and learn for each other, engage children with congenital and traumatic hand conditions in fun, therapeutic activities while developing hand and social skills, and bring awareness of congenital and traumatic hand conditions to the general public.

Do we need to attend the entire 3 hours of the camp?

No, activity stations begin at 9am and close at noon, however, you can come and go at any time. Obviously, we would love to have you stay for the full 3 hours!

What should I wear and bring to Camp Mighty Hands?

Please come in comfortable clothing that allows you and your child to be active and that can get dirty and/or wet (There is a splash pad and a dunk tank). Wear close toed shoes to protect your feet. Consider bringing a hat in case of sun, or a jacket or raincoat in case of inclement weather. Also, consider bringing sunscreen and a water bottle. Most importantly, bring a good attitude!

Will food be provided at the Camp Mighty Hands?

Camp Mighty Hands will provide individually wrapped cookies, crackers, fruit snacks, popsicles, and water bottles at the replenish station for camp participants and parents. Please be conscious that there may be nuts or other allergens in snacks provided. You are welcome to bring your own snacks!

What if there is inclement weather during Camp Mighty Hands?

We hope to have great weather in August. If there is rain we will still hold the camp and invite you to come dressed for the weather. If there is lightning the activity stations will be closed and participants will be asked to go to their cars and wait until 30 minutes after the lightning has passed.

Does Wardle Park have playground equipment?

Yes! This is a brand-new Salt Lake County park that has an amazing playground and splash pad. Part of the fun of having Camp Mighty Hands at Wardle Park is to allow the children to play together at the park.

Can I donate to Camp Mighty Hands?

Yes! Camp Mighty Hands is a 501c(3) established in April 2025. We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with the University of Utah Orthopedic Department this year! All donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation will be used to fund future camps.
